The Weekly Wag, Issue #10

Delta DogWelcome to The Weekly Wag, your home for quick news and updates on the ctcLink project.

User Acceptance Testing, Gratitude and What’s Next

Delta Dog’s friend and colleague, Tim Wrye, expresses his thanks to those involved in user acceptance testing in this guest blog post. He also gives a preview of what’s to come — important activities, deadlines and closures — as we prepare for Go-Live on February 8.

Woof to Duncan, Feney, Raegan, Tara and Wuyhe!

This week’s Golden Paw Award winners are Wuhye Chun, Raegan Copeland, Duncan Kajoka, Feney Perez and Tara Woods. Through their extraordinary efforts, Highline is making great strides in our collective journey to ctcLink. Read about their accomplishments on the Paws Up page.

Did You Miss the Town Hall?

Delta Dog enjoyed sharing the virtual stage with President Mosby and several ctcLink project team members at the November 17 Town Hall. If you missed it, a video with captioning is available on Highline’s Google drive (you’ll need to be logged on with your Highline credentials to access). You can also read President Mosby’s opening remarks on the Activities and Events page.

Congratulations, Jenny!

Jenny Olson won with ctcLink training. Jenny completed the 9.2 PeopleSoft Fundamentals course and was randomly selected to win a $25 gift card to Amazon. Do you want to be the next winner? See “Delta Dog Offers Tips for Tackling Training” to learn how. The next drawing will be December 18.

Question of the Week

Delta Dog loves getting questions from her human friends. Here’s a recent one:

Question:
I signed up for PeopleSoft courses through the SBCTC website, but the courses aren’t appearing on my dashboard when I log in to my Canvas account. What should I do?

Answer:
The Canvas Dashboard only shows a selection of the courses you are signed up for. It is not a complete list and is more of a landing page.

To see the full list, follow these steps once you have logged in to Canvas:*

  • On the left navigation bar, click on Courses. A pop-up menu will appear.
  • On the pop-up menu, select All Courses (you may have to scroll to the bottom of the list).
  • A list of all courses should appear.

Still have questions? Check with your supervisor or email Delta Dog.

*Note: When you log in to Canvas, your MyHighline Username is the first part of your Highline email address (e.g., deltadog) and your Password is your Highline password.

Chat, Chew and Connect: Fridays at Noon

Join us Friday, December 11, at noon for the next Lunch and Learn with Delta Dog. You can ask questions of project manager Pat Daniels and other ctcLink team members.

Countdown Calendar

The clock is ticking. Just 37 working days until Highline goes live with ctcLink on February 8, 2021.

Delta Dog wants to connect through social media. Join her on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Word of the Week

While you learn and work with ctcLink and its software, PeopleSoft, you’ll come across many words and terms. To help you learn the lingo, here’s this week’s word (find others on the Terminology page):

database
A collection of similar information stored in a single place. PeopleSoft is built on a relational database, meaning that data is stored in many tables that relate to each other through common fields.
