Highline’s Board of Trustees contracted with Gold Hill Associates to aid in the presidential search process.

Gold Hill is a national firm specializing in community college executive searches. It was one of five firms to respond to the board’s request for quote, issued at the end of September.

Trustees selected Gold Hill for its experience and success in recruiting community college leaders. In Washington alone, Gold Hill has helped fill more than a dozen presidential vacancies, most recently at Bellevue College early in 2017.

Gold Hill executives have strong ties to the Pacific Northwest, giving them insight into the region’s unique strengths and challenges. The firm’s owner, Dr. Preston Pulliams, spent nearly a decade as district president at Portland Community College in Oregon.

Pulliams is working directly with the board on Highline’s search, with the assistance of colleagues with Washington connections, including Dr. Walter Nolte.

Nolte, the recently retired president of Casper College in Wyoming, earned his associate degree from Tacoma Community College and his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from University of Puget Sound.
