Join us for our Earth Week event, “Broadening Our Environmental Perspective: How We Can Change Our Nomenclature to be More Inclusive.” Nomenclature is the complex terms and labels used in a particular field of study. Complex definitions of nature, inter-generational trauma, and lack of representation have all contributed to the narrative that BIPOC don’t engage in outdoor spaces. In this session, we will discuss these issues and explore solutions. We will immerse ourselves into Place-Based Education and apply it to early childhood education, critique national environmental organizations, and use self-reflection to give us new perspectives on how we teach about the outdoors.
