Marking 5 Years of the DACA Program

  • Highline College supports DACA

Today marks the fifth anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. In recognition of that milestone, Highline College has joined with Gov. Jay Inslee and other Washington leaders in signing the We Are With Dreamers statement.

According to the Governor’s office, under DACA, more than 17,000 young Washingtonians have been able to study and work in the United States, contributing more than $1 billion to the state economy.

The anniversary gives us the welcome chance to reaffirm our values of inclusion and equity across our communities. We feel this action is especially important now, given the recent acts of violence and intolerance in Charlottesville, Virginia. As a college community, we support all of our students, their families and their communities. We believe that diversity is one of Highline’s greatest assets.
