Legal Studies
From Classroom to Courtroom-Ready
If you want to help people in your community, promote justice, and get a good paying job, the Paralegal program at Highline College might be for you. A career as a paralegal is a great choice for people who want meaningful, in-demand work in the legal field without spending years in law school.
Paralegals work closely with attorneys and play a vital role in law offices, courts, corporations, government agencies, and legal aid organizations. Paralegals interview clients and witnesses, gather and organize evidence, research the law, prepare legal documents, and support attorneys at trial. The field offers strong job stability, opportunities for specialization, and clear pathways for advancement. It’s also a career that values critical thinking, organization, communication and technology skills—making it a smart option for those who enjoy problem-solving and working in a professional, fast-paced environment.
Paralegals work under the supervision of an attorney and may not provide legal services directly to the public, except as permitted by law.
