Scholarships
Scholarships are one way to help cover the costs of education. Unlike loans, they do not have to be repaid.
Scholarships can be awarded based on grades, achievement, or need. The application process is separate from financial aid and deadlines are spread throughout the year. A scholarship can cover all or part of tuition costs, so it's worth applying to reduce education expenses.
- Career & Technical Scholarship: For Opportunity Scholars who intend to earn their certificate, apprenticeship, or associate degree. CTS provides up to $1,500 per quarter for apprenticeship, certificate, or associate degree programs in STEM, health care, and the trades. Search the eligible CTS programs offered at Highline. Enter Highline in the search box to view program options.
- Baccalaureate Scholarship: For Opportunity Scholars who intend to earn their bachelor’s degree — including those who want to transfer or receive their bachelor’s degree from a community college. The Baccalaureate Scholarship (BaS) provides up to $22,500 in scholarship funding to students pursuing bachelor’s degrees in high-demand STEM and health care majors in Washington state. See if your major is eligible.
College Bound Commitment Scholarship
The College Bound Commitment is an early commitment of state financial aid to eligible students who enroll in middle school and meet the pledge requirements. The College Bound Commitment covers the cost of tuition at public college rates, some fees, and a small book allowance.
Washington State Governors’ Scholarship for Foster Youth
The Washington State Governors’ Scholarship for Foster Youth is a scholarship program that helps young people from foster care continue their education and earn a college degree.
Passport to Careers
The Passport to Careers program helps Washington students who have been in various types of foster care or who have experienced unaccompanied homelessness to prepare for careers. The Passport to College Promise Scholarship pathway can give you a scholarship that helps with the cost of earning a college certificate or degree (tuition, fees, books, housing, transportation, and some personal expenses), support services from college staff, and priority consideration for the Washington College Grant and Washington State Work Study programs.
Highline Achievement Scholarship
This scholarship was established to acknowledge outstanding academic achievements and promote continued excellence in future education. Fifteen individuals will be awarded a tuition waiver of 15 credits, provided they are enrolled in at least 12 credits to be eligible. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. The scholarship is available every quarter.
Highline Foundation Scholarships
Only one application is needed for any and all Foundation Scholarships. Applications are available on the Highline College Foundation Website. The scholarship application opens in the spring. In 2023 Highline students received more than $182,500 in scholarships from the Foundation.
