Time to Activate Your ctcLink Account

Guest post by Tim Wrye, Executive Director of IT Services, CIO and ctcLink Project Executive Sponsor

Today begins ctcLink activation for all faculty and staff, including part-time hourly and student employees. Most students will begin February 16.

Activation Instructions

You’ll need your current ID (often referred to as SID) to activate your ctcLink account. Your SID is the 9-digit number you’ve been using to access Instructor Briefcase and the Time & Leave Reporting [TLR] system.

Some of you have an “Alias Name” in the Legacy PPMS system that is different than your legal name. When you activate your ctcLink account, you’ll need to provide your legal name. You will have the option to change your name after activation. (More on that later.)

Everyone will need to go through this process, unless you already have a ctcLink ID because you’re associated with another college that has already transitioned to ctcLink. If you work, teach or take classes at more than one college, you’ll have just one ID. You will still use your Highline username and password for your Canvas and email accounts.

See step-by-step instructions for activating your account or watch a video by going to the How-to Guides section of Help and Resources.

Two important tips:

  • During the activation process you’ll get your new ctcLink ID. Remember to write it down. You’ll see it only once during activation.
  • After activating your account, make sure to close all browser windows completely for updates to take place.

Update Your Personal Details

Once you have activated your account, you’ll have the chance to review and update your personal details, including address, phone numbers and emergency contacts.

For those who prefer to have a public name different than your legal name, this is your chance to change it. This is particularly important for faculty who present their preferred name professionally, as the ctcLink record is tied to the class schedule in Campus Solutions and will display the legal name until the preferred name is submitted and processed by HR.

See step-by-step instructions for updating your personal details.

Support Through Zoom Sessions: Get ctcLinked!

See Get ctcLinked! for a schedule of Zoom sessions, where volunteers will answer questions and point you to resources. These ever-helpful volunteers — your colleagues — can help you activate your account, navigate the new system and more.

Good luck!
