Welcome to Earth Week! Today’s event will feature a seminar with guest speaker, Jacob Selander, which will discuss “How Climate Change is Impacting the World Right Now and What We Can Learn from the Montreal Protocol.” It’s understood that Anthropogenic (human) activity over the past 150-200 years has significantly altered the chemistry and dynamics of the Earth’s atmosphere. We are already observing the consequences of this changing climate, ranging from large-scale melting of glaciers and ice caps, more frequent and hazardous extreme weather events, to the effects of climate change on public health. In this presentation we’ll explore why and how climate change at present is vastly different than climate change over geologic time, and its micro- to macroscopic effects.
