Construction Alert: Building 6 East Plaza Project

  • Image of Building 6 on Highline College campus

Building 6 is open, but watch for construction activity in front of the east entrance as crews work on the plaza. And, be cautious when you walk to and from the East parking lot to Building 6. Construction vehicles may be in the area.

During construction, the contractor may temporarily close the building’s east entrance. The building’s west entrance will remain open.

What’s Going On?

The contractor is preparing the Building 6 plaza for a new canopy. Installation is planned for spring of 2019.

A student-funded project, the canopy will provide protection from the weather as people wait for transportation in the East parking lot.

Before the canopy is installed, the contractor will do some preliminary work at the site:

  • Saw cut existing concrete.
  • Drill to prepare site for pilings.
  • Pour concrete footings for the structural steel, which will be installed in the spring.
