Individual WorkFirst Programs...

WorkFirst Tuition Assistance

WorkFirst tuition assistance is financial assistance that helps support qualified students with the cost of tuition, fees and required textbooks for "wage progression" classes at Highline Community College. It is available to students who wish to upgrade their skills to enhance their employability, to gain higher wages and/or to develop a career path. Some examples of WorkFirst funded training are:

  • Professional Technical Programs

  • Extended Learning Classes

  • GED Prep and High School completion

  •  I-BEST (see program options)

Eligible students are parents who have recently received TANF within the last two years, or are currently receive TANF cash grant, and meet the following income guidelines and are working at least 20 hours per week:

Childcare Assistance may be available through DSHS (Working Connections Child Care Assistance) for those who are working 20 or more hours per week. Please call or e-mail us for more information regarding child care.

Mandatory WorkFirst Tuition Assistance orientations are available every Thursday.
