First-Time Registration

First-Time Students
New international students at Highline register for classes after they arrive on campus. You should plan to come at least a week early to be well-rested and ready to go! We recommend that you understand the requirements for you program or major to assist you in choosing your classes.

There are four steps you must follow when you register for the first time:

  1. Come to the International Student Programs office downstairs in Bldg. 9 to check in and pick up your application receipt. Bring your passport, I-20 and insurance card (if you have one).
  2. Attend a Registration Seminar.  Check for dates and times when you check in (#1).  You must attend this seminar to learn about the COMPASS test, your program requirements and how to choose classes.
  3. Take the COMPASS test. The COMPASS test will determine your English and math abilities so you can register for the correct class levels.
  4. Register for classes.  All instructions are given during the Registration Seminar.

After you register, you will need to pay your tuition within 48 hours, so please be prepared!
