Medical Insurance
All international students at Highline Community College must have medical insurance. If you have insurance from your home country that is valid in the U.S., you do not need to buy more. If you are not adequately insured, you will need to buy insurance upon arrival in the U.S.
Your Own Insurance
If you have insurance from your country, you need to provide proof of coverage by sending us an English version of your insurance policy.
- You must show your proof of insurance to the International Student Program office within
the first week of the quarter.
- We will give you a medical insurance waiver form to present to the Cashiers Office when you pay your tuition. If you do not get a medical insurance waiver, you will be automatically charged the insurance fee with your tuition. If you have already paid your tuition, you can get a refund.
- We will also give you an insurance coverage form that shows how long your insurance is valid. You will need to keep the form to show us each quarter.
Please remember that your insurance must cover the entire school quarter for which you are getting a waiver. Otherwise, you must either extend your insurance or buy the insurance offered by Highline.
Health Insurance through Highline
Highline Community College offers health insurance for its international students and their dependents.
- Student coverage: $192.00 per quarter
- Spousal coverage: $384.00 per quarter
- Each dependent child: $192.00 per quarter
Payment for your insurance is automatically deducted from your tuition. To get an insurance ID card and a handbook, you need to go to the International Student Programs office and show the receipt.
Spouse and Children
If you would like to buy insurance for your spouse or children, you must go to the International Student Programs office and get a fee form. Then, you can take this fee form to the Cashier and pay the required amount. Please make sure to pay insurance for your spouse and children within
the first week of the quarter.
