How To Apply

Are you ready to apply? Just follow these instructions to start your education at Highline today!

ALL STUDENTS:
In order to apply to Highline Community College as an international student, you must submit the following to our mailing address:

1) A completed International Student Application, either using our online form or through the mail (.pdf).

2) An application fee of $52.00 (please note: this is different from our previous fee of $55.00 as printed in our brochures; the fee has been changed to $52.00).

The fee can be paid by the following methods:

  • Personal check from a United States bank
  • An international money order
  • Wire transfer to the college account

Unfortunately, we cannot accept payment with a credit card.

3) TOEFL score of at least 480 on the written test, 157 on the computer-based test, or 54 on the Internet-based test. Please have your score sent from the testing center to Highline Community College's institution code: 4348.

We also have a number of TOEFL alternatives. If you qualify for acceptance without TOEFL, please provide appropriate proof.

4) Bank statement from you or your sponsor showing at least one year of available funds for tuition and expenses.

OPTIONAL - Transcripts from any colleges or universities you have attended (if transfer credit is desired)

OPTIONAL - Your high school transcripts, if you wish to demonstrate your background in science or math

Next Steps
When all of the materials have arrived at the International Student Programs office, we will issue a Form I-20. With this document, you will:

  • Make an appointment at your local U.S. Embassy or Consulate
  • Pay your $100 SEVIS fee online at www.fmjfee.com and print your receipt to bring with you to your interview
  • Prepare for your visa interview; for tips see our visa help page
  • Go to your interview to get your visa from the U.S. government
  • With your visa in hand, make flight and housing arrangements

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. TRANSFER STUDENTS ONLY
If you are transferring to Highline from another U.S. college, you need to send this additional information to our office:

1) A transfer report that has been completed by your current international student advisor.

2) A photocopy of all previously issued I-20s.

3) A photocopy of the I-94 card in your passport.

4) Transcripts from all schools you have attended in the U.S.

5) TOEFL score of at least 480 on the written test or 157 on the computer-based test. We also have a number of TOEFL alternatives. If you qualify for acceptance without TOEFL, please provide appropriate proof.

NOTE: You must follow your previous school's procedures for requesting your SEVIS release before we can issue your Highline Form I-20.
