Apartment
Living on your own in an apartment gives you freedom and privacy. You could also rent a place together with a group of friends. As with any choice, there are advantages and disadvantages to consider.
Advantages
- Freedom to come and go as you please
- You have your own space
- You can live with your friends
- You can choose where you want to live
- You can cook for yourself
Things to think about…
- You must spend a lot of money up front: first and last month's rent, damage deposit, furniture, kitchen supplies
- You will need to set up and pay for your own utilities such as phone, cable TV, water, gas, electric, rent
- You have to take care of problems yourself
- You must shop and cook for yourself
On Your Own
Students are welcome to find their own housing in the area. Costs can range dramatically depending on a variety of factors. Some of our
homestay agencies offer apartment locator services and airport pickup for a fee of $200. Some nearby cities to search include Des Moines, Kent, and Federal Way.
