Living on your own in an apartment gives you freedom and privacy. You could also rent a place together with a group of friends. As with any choice, there are advantages and disadvantages to consider.

Advantages

  • You can live with your friends
  • You can choose where you want to live

Things to think about…

  • You must spend a lot of money up front: first and last month's rent, damage deposit, furniture, kitchen supplies
  • You will need to set up and pay for your own utilities such as phone, cable TV, water, gas, electric, rent
  • You have to take care of problems yourself
  • You must shop and cook for yourself
