Admissions Process: Getting
Started
Step 1: Apply for Admission - Complete
the Highline application using one of the following options.
(Note: An application fee applies to first-time applicants. This application fee is not applicable to the Center for Extended Learning (continuing education) classes. See
fee schedule.)
Step 2: Finance Your Education

Apply for financial aid as soon as possible. For help or more information, contact the Financial Aid Office, (Building 6, upper level; (206) 878-3710, ext. 3358).
- You are encouraged to observe Financial Aid
application deadlines when you apply for Financial Aid.
If you miss the deadline, you can register for classes and
pay for your tuition and books using your own money.
We will review your file as soon as possible. If you
are eligible for financial aid, you may be reimbursed for
some or all of your school expenses.

Step 3: Assess Your Skills
- All applicants who are new to college studies and who intend
to earn academic credit are encouraged to take the COMPASS or
COMPASS ESL assessment. This basic skills test will be
used for advising and registration purposes.
- Students who have completed some college coursework or who
have taken a placement test at another school should contact
Admissions/Entry Services for more
information.

Step 4: Meet with an Adviser
- The Educational Planning and Advising Center is located in Building 6, upper level.
- Advisers in
Ed Planning ensure that you are taking the right classes to meet your degree requirements.

students or contact

to make an appointment.
