Tradition

Highline Community College has enjoyed a rich tradition of men's basketball since it began in 1962.  The Thunderbirds have made 24 appearances at the NWAACC Championships. Our teams have won 4 NWAACC championships in the past 12 years -- 1997, 1998, 2001 and 2006 and 3 Division Championships in the last 11 years--1997, 1998 and 2007. Our most recent 12-year record is 254 wins, 118 losses (.683).

Highline players also prepare academically and athletically for the next level. In the last five seasons, several Highline players, both freshmen and sophomores, have gone to play for 4-year schools at all levels (NCAA Division 1, 2 and 3 and NAIA schools).

Prior to that, players moved on eventually landing everywhere from the NBA (Scalabrine), Europe (Miller, Ball), Division I programs (Scalabrine, Wilder, Ball), and NCAA Division II, Division III, and NAIA schools (Williams, Miller, Lyons, King, Aziz).
