Champion 2005
Yura Malamura

Yura is the first wrestler in
Highline history to ever win a National Championship. He is an
extremely hard worker, with unbelievable strength and endurance. The
biggest factors that led to Yura's National Title was his work-ethic,
and his ability to compete on a national stage. He is terrific person
on and off the mat. He now wrestles at #1 ranked University of
Minnesota, heading into his senior year!

The 2005 National Junior
College champion, Yura Malamura was Minnesota’s starter
at 197 for the start of the 2006-07 season, as well as
the home stretch of the Big Ten season. Malamura was
also the team’s choice at the Big Ten Championships and
will enter this season’s as one of the favorites at the
weight class.
2006-07 • SOPHOMORE SEASON: Won three straight
dual meets from 11/25-12/1 • earned his first dual meet
victory with a 16-1 tech fall over Dwayne Hash-Barberis
of American (11/25) • made his Golden Gopher debut at
the Northeast Duals against Hofstra (11/25) • notched
three pins at Worthington Open (1/20) to take first
place • also went 3-0 at Jimmie Open (1/27) • gained

| two wins in
Big Ten play, one over Michigan State’s Nick Palmieri
(2/9) and one over Jordan McLaughlin of Iowa (2/18) •
competed at first Big Ten Championships, going 0-2 •
earned first letter. 2004-06:
2005 National Junior College champion at 197 pounds •
became the first NJCAA champ in Highline Community
College history • redshirted last season to maintain an
additional year of eligibility.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2003 graduate of Spanaway High
School • head coach was Paul Greely • won the state
title as a senior • also lettered three times in
football and track.
PERSONAL: Communication major • son of Nick and
Nina Malamura • born October 13, 1984 • enjoys
snowboarding and wakeboarding.

Jason Mendez - After earning his A.S. degree from Highline, Jason is
wrestled at Embry
Riddle University in Prescott, Arizona, where he was a national qualifier his
junior year at 141 lbs. in the NAIA division.
Jason has now earned his
degree at Embry Riddle and was a 2-time National Qualifier.
Jon
Muri - Jon finished his Highline degree and went on to become a
national qualifier his junior year for the University of Montana- Great
Falls. Since
them, Jon has finished his degree at Great Falls Montanta and was
a 2 -time National Qualifier. John was also ranked in the top 6 his
junior year.
"All 3
were teamates in 2004/2005. They are all some of the hardest workers
I've ever had come through Highline. In addition, they have excellent
character and will always be successful when wrestling is over."
Desean Willis - Desean made a late transfer to Tennessee Cumberland
which is an NAIA school. Desean has also taken over a starting roll at
125 lbs.

Pat Bradley -
All-American (8th)
Pat had one of the most devastating force halfs. He pinned
several people on the way to earning All-American honors.

Desean Willis-
knocked off several
good wrestlers at the nationals to place a strong 7th and claim his
first All-American status. Desean recently chose to wrestle at
Tennessee Cumberland, an NAIA school.

Brad Padgett-
Brad Padgett earned his
4th All-American status by placing 3rd in the NCAA division II
Championships. Brad will return to St. Cloud as a grad. assistant and
coach. He has also begun training in Mixed Martial Arts. He recently
won his first fight.
Previously,
Brad became a 4 x All-American at the National Division 2
wrestling championships. Brad was a 2 x All-American at Highline, and
added two more All-American finished at St. Cloud, MN. Brad placed 4th
as a junior and 3rd as a senior.
