Brazil Trip 2008                                                                   Go to August 18

Sunday, August 17, 2008

Hello  from Brazil….

Today is Day 3 of our practices here in Brazil…

The weather has been perfect … mid 80s not too hot and yet easy to get warmed up before practice..

Yesterday (Saturday) we had breakfast at about 7:30am … and were in the gym by 9am ready for practice…

Everyone is working hard on improving their individual skills … During the morning sessions are working on individual skills ….movement, footwork and technique.

Our morning session went from 9am – 11am

Everyone went to the pool for about an hour and relaxed and waited for lunch..

The food here is fantastic… lots of choices (unfortunately none of them are bad choices… not a good thing if you are a coach trying to lose weight…. Smile…)

All of the girls love the food… sometimes we do not know exactly what it is…  but we try it and see if we like it…

We had our afternoon practice session from 2:30pm – 5:00pm …

Let me re-phrase that… it was to start at 2:30pm … about ½ of the girls were late…
only a few minutes .. but that was enough to earn them the right to do sprints for being late….
I am sure this will be the last time ANYONE will be late on the team again….

After doing their sprints we got back to a good practice…

We stopped practice for the 5:00pm SNACK…. (if it seem like everything revolves
around meal times.. you are correct…

We had from 5pm – 6:30pm to relax and sit by the pool or go back to the dorm room for a nap…

Our evening practice was to start at 6:30pm ALL of the girls were there by 6:15pm ready
to go…. (I am sure the memory of the afternoon sprints had something to do with their promptness.

When we arrived to the gym … one of the Brazil Junior national teams was playing the German
junior national teams.  We watched the first game…. The girls on these teams are about the
same age (20 years old) but their size is nothing close … Most of the girls on the team are well
over 6 feet tall …

After the first game we went to our team practice until 8:30 pm and then to dinner…

Everyone was in their rooms by 9…

Everything is going well…. We are making good improvement…. And learning a lot….
Especially about being …… prompt…. (smile….)

More later ...   I am still hoping to send some photos…

Bye from Brazil …
