Coaches

Head Coach Scott Norton - Coach Norton completed his first year as
Highline's head coach during the 2002-03season. His prior coaching
experience has included assisting at Lindbergh High School and Indiana
State University. Norton has a wealth of experience in wrestling, being a
3-time Pac-10 Champion, and amassing a college career record of
111-28 (.799) while at the University of Oregon. During his senior year,
he captured four titles (Southern Oregon Open, Mat Town Invitational,
Oregon Classic, Pacific-10 Championships), raising his total to 12
career titles.  Norton is the second all-time on Oregon's career win list
with 111 victories. During his senior year, Norton also established a
new personal mark of 35 wins for a season, breaking his old record of
  33. By capturing his third consecutive Pac-10 title, Scott became the first Duck to do so since the
1981-1983 seasons.  He is just one of six people to amass 100 wins on the Oregon mat. Additionally,
Norton was a Division 1 All-American. Needless to say, Coach Norton brings a strong competitive edge
 to Highline's program.

Assistant Coach Matt Hoover -

Coach Hoover came to Highline during the 2007-08 season when he moved to Washington after marrying his wife Suzy.  Coach Hoover was a letter winner at the University of Iowa, wrestling under the legendary coach Dan Gable as well as for current Oregon State coach Jimmy Zalesky.  He was a member of four Division I National Championship teams while at Iowa.

In high school Coach Hoover won two Iowa state championships and was named a high school All-American by Asics twice.  Hoover was a three time freestyle Jr. National All-American and a finalist his senior year.  As well as winning multiple Iowa state Freestyle and Greco Roman state titles, Hoover represented the United States in the 1994 Jr. World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.  In 2007 Hoover won the Veteran National Freestyle title in Las Vegas.

Coach Hoover and his wife Suzy have two sons, Rex and Jax.
