 Board of Trustees: Current Members

Dan Altmayer - Board Chair
Dan Altmayer was appointed to the Board of Trustees October 1, 2008. He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in Political Science (International Relations) and a minor in German. Soon after graduating, Dan went on Active Duty in the US Army until 1992 then continued to serve in both the Washington Army National Guard and the US Army Reserve. He retired as a Major with 24 years of service in 2004. He has been awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal; the Meritorious Service Medal; and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
Dan has been a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones Investments since 1992 and has earned the Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS) designation from the College for Financial Planning. He currently chairs the Board of Directors for the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce; serves on the Advisory Council for Communities in Schools; and recently served as the Vice President of the Highline Community College Foundation. In this capacity, he co-chaired the capital campaign for HCC's Marine Science Technology Center. In November 2008 Dan was recognized for this leadership role by the Council for Resource Development (CRD) with the Outstanding Volunteer Campus Impact Award.
Dan is a Master Scuba Diver and enjoys diving in warm, tropical regions of the world.

Michael Regeimbal
Michael Regeimbal was appointed to the Board of Trustees October 1, 2006. Mr. Regeimbal is an attorney in Des Moines in the practice of Elder Law since 1991, including guardianship, probate, estate planning, and trusts.  He holds a BS in Accounting from Central Washington University, MBA from Seattle University, Juris Doctor in Law from University of Puget Sound, and a Certificate of Estate Planning from the University of Washington School of Law. He is the past president of the following organizations:  Highline Community College Foundation; Des Moines Chamber of Commerce; Des Moines-Midway Rotary Club; Des Moines Referral and Outreach Society; and Des Moines Economic Development Group.  Past member of the Des Moines Community Summit and Des Moines Senior Advisory Council; and past candidate of Des Moines City Council.  He and his wife are residents of Des Moines.
 

HCC Trustee Michael Regeimbal
Dr. Elizabeth Chen
Elizabeth Chen was appointed November 1995 and re-appointed September 1999 and October 2004.  She is Board Chair for 2006-07, and was Board Vice Chair for 2005-06; Board Chair for 2001-02, Board Vice Chair 1996-98.  She was the Chair of the Association of Community and Technical College's (ACCT) Diversity Committee 2005-07 and Vice Chair 2003-05; and member of the ACCT Board of Directors 2005-07.  She is a Board Member of the South Puget Sound Chinese Language School; and Advisor, Overseas and Chinese Affairs Commission R.O.C. (Taiwan). Dr. Chen earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in Statistics at the University of Wyoming. Her interests include reading, teaching and traveling. Dr. Chen is married and lives in Federal Way.

 HCC Trustee Elizabeth Chen
Edward Davila, M.D.
Dr. Davila was appointed to the Board of  Trustees July 2002.  He was Board Chair 2004-05 and Vice Chair 2003-04. He is Board Certified in the field of General Internal Medicine and his medical practice is located in Burien.  In 1999, Governor Gary Locke appointed Dr. Davila to serve as Seattle Commissioner on Hispanic Affairs which acts as an advisory/policy link between the Governor's office and the Washington State Hispanic Community.  Dr. Davila is a current Board member of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Chair of the Patient Oversight Committee.  He was past President of the statewide Latino non-profit, "Grupo Mexico" and current President of "La Liga Hispana del Noroeste" Professional Soccer Association.  Dr. Davila is a native of Washington State completing professional studies from the University of Puget Sound, Faculty of Medicine/Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon and University of Illinois.  His special interest is in early childhood development.  His leisure time is spent coaching basketball, golfing, skiing and supporting “La Liga Hispana del Noroeste” Professional Soccer Association as Advisory President.   Dr. Davila resides in Seahurst.  
 

HCC Trustee Edward Davila
Barbara Reid
Barbara Reid was appointed to the Board of Trustees October 1, 2008. She has been active in several community organizations for many years, including Chair of the Federal Way Parks and Recreation Commission, President of the Federal Way Symphony, Vice-President and Parade Chair of the city’s annual Festival Days, member of the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee. She is also active in Member Citizens for Federal Way Schools.  Ms. Reid advocated for Steel Lake Skateboard Park, and the French Lake Off-Leash Park. She formerly worked for the Boeing Company Employees Community Fund Campaign and the U.S. Treasury Department Savings Bond Campaign. She chaired the 2007/08 winning campaign against Prop 1, which called for a change in city government structure. She earned her degree in Fine Arts (A.O.C.A) at the Ontario College of Art and enjoyed a 30-year career in Advertising and Marketing Communications. Her memberships have included Havergal College Old Girls Association, Delta Delta Delta Alumnae, Business/Professional Advertising Association and Women In Communications, Inc.  Ms. Reid was named the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce 2003 Citizen of the Year.
