Mission

We - the faculty, staff, administrators, and Board of Trustees of Highline Community College - provide the members of our diverse community with superior educational opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values necessary for productive, responsible, and meaningful lives.

Philosophy

We believe that access to education is a right, not a privilege.

We believe that education is the best - and most rewarding - way to open minds and hearts to all the possibilities that life has to offer.

We are partners with a larger community of individuals, businesses, organizations who pursue education as a means to improving their opportunities, enriching their understanding and maintaining a successful economy.

Values

Quality - We strive for excellence in all our programs and services.

Respect - We honor the rights and ideas of all people and we value each other's beliefs.

Access - We believe education must be accessible to all who seek it.

Candor - We encourage creativity, challenge and debate in teaching and learning.

Diversity - We provide equal and fair treatment to everyone. We value individual and cultural differences.

Operating Principles

In order to achieve our mission, we will:

Provide students with quality educational programs that result in high levels of competency, knowledge and skill.

Empower students to take personal responsibility for attaining their educational goals.
