Three-time National Daytime Emmy Award winner Scott Schaefer wrote for Highline Community College’s student newspaper. Now he’s leading the trend in online news with his local Website, the B-Town Blog.
The B-Town Blog features local news stories and strives to serve and help the community of Burien.
The blog’s audience has skyrocketed since it began in Dec. 2007, and has spawned sister blogs that focus on five South King County communities.
Scott discovered his love for journalism while editing and writing for Highline’s student newspaper, The Thunderword. Scott wrote a humor column for The Thunderword and edited the annual April Fool’s edition.
"Highline taught me how to meet deadlines, write crisply and fostered my love for journalism,"
Scott said. "It also taught me to become a pretty good Foosball
player!"
After leaving Highline in 1979, he found success in television by producing, directing and writing shows and specials for Showtime, CBS, Fox and PBS.
He won six Northwest Emmy Awards as an associate producer and writer on KING-TV’s
"Almost Live!" and three National Emmy Awards as a writer for "Bill
Nye the Science Guy."
In addition, he was nominated for a 2005 Directors Guild of America Award for Showtime’s
"Penn & Teller: Bullsh*t!"
