Amelia Mann graduated Highline Community College as a Honors Scholar. Now she’s promoting public service and helping to improve the federal government in Washington, D.C.
Amelia works for Partnership in Public Service, a nonprofit organization that works to revitalize the government by inspiring the next generation to serve their country through federal service.
"The most important lesson I learned at Highline was that anyone can make a difference in his or her community," Amelia said.
"My time at Highline was an essential stepping stone to where I am today."
While at Highline, Amelia was president of the Young Republicans Club and participated in the Honors Scholar program. The Honors Scholars program is open to all students who have 12 credits of college-level work with a 3.5 GPA or higher.
"My experience with Barbara Clinton through the Honors Scholar program had a significant impact on my life," she said.
"The practical writing skills I developed under her instruction were instrumental to my success."
After graduating from Highline in 2006, she earned bachelor’s degrees in political science and communication at the University of Washington. She said she plans on returning to school for a law degree and master’s degree in public administration.
