Indonesia Exchange Program 2012
The 2012 Community College Faculty and Administrator (CCFA) exchange program, like the 2011 cohort, is funded by a grant from the US State Department Office of Educational and Cultural Affairs, with coordination from the organization Community Colleges for International Development. Its goal is to develop the visiting educators' understanding of US community colleges and American culture, while also teaching Americans about Indonesian colleges and culture.
The visiting faculty teach business, accounting, tourism & hospitality, English, and other subjects in the Business and Tourism departments at their home institutions, and they will attend classes in similar subjects while here, guest-teaching or co-teaching when appropriate.
The Indonesian faculty also participate in professional development opportunities, advisory committees, and other activities alongside their American colleagues.
The faculty arrived at HCC this summer and will stay until December, while counterparts from their home colleges are participating in a parallel program at Kapi'olani Community College in Honolulu, Hawaii.
If interested in meeting or collaborating with the Indonesian educators, they can be contacted through their project coordinator, Chris Foertsch and through their HCC email addresses until they return home on December 15th, 2012.
Also see the article about them in the October 18, 2012 issue of the Highline Thunderword.
