T-Birds Capture Championship

The Highline Men's Soccer Team captured the 2004 NWAACC Championship!  The T-Birds put together one of the best performances in history, successfully shutting out North Idaho, Walla Walla, and finally South Puget Sound to clinch the title.  Special congratulations go to Kyle Colbath who was named tournament MVP, and Head Coach Jason Prenovost who was named NWAACC Coach of the Year.  The team finished the season with an impressive overall record of 20-4-3, including 12 shutouts.  They also lead the NWAACC in goals scored with 67.  CONGRATULATIONS, T-BIRDS!

Exceptional Faculty Awards

The Highline Community College Foundation with matched funds from the Washington Community and Technical College Exceptional Faculty Awards continues the permanently endowed fund that provides opportunities for faculty at HCC.  This past summer, $50,000 from the Foundation and $50,000 from the Exceptional Faculty Award match from the State Board was added to the existing endowment, which now totals $150,000.  Earnings from the funds can be used to:

·         Promote excellence in teaching and learning

·         Enhance the educational environment of HCC

·         Contribute to the advancement of the applicant’s discipline

·         Lead to the development of innovative curriculum

The awards can be used for faculty development activities, in service training, temporary substitutes or replacement costs directly associated with the faculty development program, conferences, travel, publication and dissemination of exemplary projects, supplement the salary of the holder of a faculty award or pay expenses associated with the holders program area.  Funds from this program shall not be used to supplant any existing faculty development funds.  For more information regarding the awarding of funds, please see the HCEA Negotiated Agreement.

Facts and Information 2004-05

The Highline Facts and Information 2004-05 brochures and Report to the Community 2003-04 annual reports are now available. The annual Facts brochure includes a general overview of Highline -- e.g. accreditation, student profile, transfer stats, communities served, economic impact. The Report to the Community features highlights and successes of the past year. Both pieces are useful to include in information packets, especially when making presentations to community or  business groups, or when meeting with friends -- and would-be friends -- of the college.  Contact Melissa Sell, msell@highline.edu or call ext. 3390 to request a supply.
