Portfolio Show features Highline students’ creative work

 

Event:               Portfolio Show

Dates:               June 1 and 2

Time:               10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Price:               Free

Location:            Highline Community College’s main campus, Highline Student Union (Building 8), Mt. Constance and Mt. Olympus rooms
Highline’s main campus is located midway between Seattle and Tacoma at South 240th Street and Pacific Highway South (Highway 99); address: 2400 S. 240th St., Des Moines, WA 98198.

Description:      Highline Community College students from the Drafting Design, Visual Communications and Interior Design programs will show off their creative work in print and digital media at the college’s annual Portfolio Show.

                              Cash prizes will also be awarded. Judging takes place 3-8 p.m. June 2.

                              In addition, community members may meet the artists, designers and faculty of Highline’s design programs during the two-day event. For more information about the artists and designers, visit www.highlineportfolios.com.

                              The show will be open special hours for friends and family from 5-8 p.m. June 1 and for industry professionals from 5-8 p.m. June 2.

Highline Community College was founded in 1961 as the first community college in King County. With approximately 10,000 students and 350,000 alumni, it is one of the state’s largest institutions of higher education. The college offers a wide range of academic transfer and professional-technical education programs, with day, evening and weekend classes. Alumni include former Seattle Mayor Norm Rice, entrepreneur Junki Yoshida and Washington state poet laureate Sam Green.

 

Attachment:               Abdul Hawasli, of Kent, won first place and $500 in the 2008 Portfolio Show. Hawasli is a Visual Communications student at Highline Community College.
