Highline’s Science Scholars
Program names winter winners
DES
MOINES,
The
scholarships, provided with funding from the National Science Foundation, help
cover education costs for an academic year.
The
scholarship winners for winter quarter, by city, are:
Des
Moines Michele Howard, Henok Kebede
and Andrew Lawrence
To be
eligible for a scholarship, students must qualify for financial aid, take at
least 12 credits and have a 2.5 GPA or better. Students must be pursuing
careers in astronomy, biology, biotechnology, botany, chemistry, computer
science, engineering, environmental science, geology, marine science,
mathematics, oceanography or physics.
In
September 2007, the National Science Foundation awarded Highline almost
$600,000 to provide scholarships to students majoring in the pure and applied
sciences.
