·                  Steps to Finding a Career in a Down Economy

9:30-11 a.m. Tuesday, March 10 or 2-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14

Discover tips and strategies for finding a good job in a down economy, including how to stand out in the job pool and using unique job search resources. Jack Harton, a Highline librarian, will show how to successfully use search engines to find job opportunities.

·                  Cover Letters and Résumés That Get Results

1:30-3 p.m. Tuesday, March 17 or 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 21

Learn how to write a cover letter and résumé that stand out to potential employers. Human Resources staff members will also offer one-on-one consultations to assist job seekers in creating and completing a cover letter and résumé.

·                  Tips for a Successful Interview

9:30-11 a.m. Tuesday, March 31 or 2-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 28

Get valuable tips about how to prepare for a successful interview and find out what to expect during the interview process. Human Resources staff members will also discuss the laws concerning employment discrimination and what interview questions are illegal for an employer to ask. Individual coaching sessions will be offered, as well.

·                  How to Access Unemployment Benefits

2-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 7 or 9:30-11 a.m. Tuesday, May 5

Find out the basic requirements for collecting unemployment, tips for filing a correct and complete unemployment claim, how much benefits will be and when benefits will start. Also, learn how to navigate the Washington state’s Employment Security Department Website and apply for unemployment benefits online.
