Location:         Highline Community College’s main campus, Library, 4th floor Gallery Free parking.

Highline’s main campus is located midway between Seattle and Tacoma at South 240th Street and Pacific Highway South (Highway 99); address: 2400 S. 240th St., Des Moines, WA 98198.

 

Description:      In celebratian of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, May 2007, Highline Community College Library will present an exhibit by noted local Sumi artist Lois Yoshida.  Join us for an opening May 3rd at 7 p.m. with music provided by the award-winning Japanese music ensemble, Duo En, which performs on the koto and shakuhachi (bamboo flute).  Cap off the evening with a thrilling performance by members of the Highline Community College Yamato Daiko Club.

 

The Sumi Art of Lois Yoshida

Lois Yoshida is a Sumi (black ink painting) artist who has studied with noted artist Fumiko Kimura.  She is active in the Puget Sound Sumi Artists organization. Her award-winning Sumi paintings have been exhibited in solo and group shows locally as well as internationally. Lois has also taught at the Bellevue Art Museum School and the Kirkland Arts Center.
