Welcome!
In the summer of 2006
Highline received an Achieving the Dream grant from the Lumina
Foundation.

The goal of Achieving the Dream is to help more
community college students succeed, especially student groups that
traditionally have faced significant barriers to success, including
students of color and low-income students. It emphasizes the use of
data to drive change.
-
Achieving the Dream is a multiyear effort started three years ago by
the Lumina Foundation, with additional support from other
foundations and organizations.

-
Currently 58 colleges in ten states
participate.
-
In 2006, community colleges from Washington State were invited to
participate ~ Highline, Big Bend,
Seattle Central, Renton Technical College, Tacoma, and Yakima
Valley.
-
Colleges receive $50,000 grants to plan and launch
Achieving the Dream on their campuses during the first year.
-
Colleges may apply to College Spark the next year for implementation grants worth up to $400,000 over
four years.
