The 2006 International Association of Printing House Craftsman Gallery
Awards for Printing Excellence were presented to winning printing companies
and schools in Washington State. Winners came from over 3500 printed samples
submitted by some of the finest printing companies and colleges from North
America, Europe and the Far East.
The Highline Community College Printing Program reached an almost
unbelievable level of printing excellence by receiving 15 total awards: 3
– Gold, 3 – Silver, 5 – Bronze and 4 – Honorable Mention.
On a regional level, Highline took home 15% of the total awards,
an impressive achievement. Highline was competing against major universities
and very large commercial companies having in most cases, more
sophisticated, modern equipment. All awards were based on blind
judging ~ no mention of company name or its size accompanied the submissions
~ and no other school in Washington received a single award.
The gold awards are automatically submitted for judging at the “Best of
the Best” competition. Winners will be announced at the International Assoc.
of Printing House Craftsmen Mid-Winter meeting in Las Vegas, on January 25,
2007.
