Around 1pm Friday, August 1st, 2008, Highline Community College
will be participating in an emergency drill with the Des Moines Police Department, South King County Fire & Rescue, King County Medic 1 and other emergency agencies.
Activities will focus on the Library building (building 25) and the Emergency Operations Center in Building 26; however, police, firefighters, and medical personnel may also appear in other parts of the Des Moines campus.
In an attempt to make this a realistic scenario, you may see police carrying weapons and firefighters with 1st aid equipment. There should be little or no effect on the College’s operations that day nor do we anticipate any disruption to those employees working in building 25 and 26.
The purpose of the drill is to allow the College’s emergency response team to test the emergency preparedness plan and the Emergency Operations Center. It will also familiarize the emergency responding agencies with the Des Moines campus.
