Student Records Privacy: Students (or parents, where applicable) have the right to do the following:

(1) inspect and review the student’s educational records,
(2) request the amendment of such record(s),
(3) consent to disclosure of personally identifiable information contained in such records (absent a legal exception to the consent requirement),
(4) file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerning alleged failures by the college to comply with the requirements of FERPA, and
(5) obtain a copy of the college’s student records policy. See “Students’ Rights Regarding Their Educational Records,” for more detailed information.

Students’ Social Security Numbers: Your social security number is confidential and, under a federal law called the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, the college will protect it from unauthorized use and/or disclosure. In compliance with state/federal requirements, disclosure may be authorized for the purposes of state and federal financial aid, Hope/Lifetime Learning tax credits, academic transcripts, assessment, or accountability research.
