Anna Lee
2007 Graduate ~ Scholarship Winner ~ International Studies Major
New Beginnings Based on Rich Experiences at Highline Community College
“I stepped into the Highline Community
College campus as a Running Start student,
trying to balance the music classes I took
at Decatur High School from 6:30 in the
morning with my full-time class schedule at
Highline. It has been well worth the effort!"
Anna graduated from her high school,
ranking 5th in her class of 354 students
with a cumulative GPA of 3.95, while also
achieving an Associate of Arts Degree from
Highline Community College as a Highline
Honors Scholar.
Through her involvement in
Student Programs and
Phi Theta Kappa Pi-Sigma, Anna became a
leader at Highline.
“With the continuous support from my
advisers and mentors I have been able to,
time and time again, see humbling
experiences that inspire me to bring that
inspiration and motivation to my classmates
and friends on campus. With the leadership
and service ethic that was instilled in me
by Highline Community College I have been
able to receive the first Highline Student
Leader of the Month award and Outstanding
Contributions for Phi Theta Kappa Award for
the year. Furthermore, because of Highline’s
Honors Program and the immense support from
the Honors Program Director, I am also a
Gates Millenium Scholar.”
Anna intends on using her appreciation
of
history and political science to pursue a
major in international relations at the
University of Washington, where she can
“study the complex but amazing wave of
globalism that has now become the world we
live in.”
“With an ambition to continue my
education all the way up to a doctoral
program, I hope to become a Humanitarian
official for the UN and join the
international community for the continuing
fight for human rights and social justice in
developing countries.”
