What procedures must I follow to take a class on a field trip?

All authorized absences from class must be approved prior to the activity. A field trip requires your filling out the field trip form at least 10 days in advance including the signatures of your Department Coordinator, Division chair, and the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Having a completed form will authorize your field trip as an official college activity while you are off campus.

Does the college provide vehicles for field trips?

The College does not provide cars, but instead makes arrangement for a local car rental agency. Authorization for a rental vehicle must also be approved at least 10 days prior to the field trip. Please fill out a Materials & Service Request (MSR) and have your Division Chair approve. Your Division Chair will forward your approved MSR to the Purchasing Dept. Purchasing will make the reservation with a local car rental vendor. Faculty and Staff are the only authorized drivers; students cannot drive rental vehicles on behalf of the College.

What if my students are driving their own vehicles?

If students are driving private vehicles on the field trip, we recommend that students establish their own car pools to minimize your liability in case of accident. (See the Field Trip Request form.)
