The campus mail room is located on the first floor of Building 25, Room 113. Mail is picked up from the Post Office each morning and sorted for campus delivery starting at 10:00 AM. Inter-campus mail is delivered again starting at 2:00 PM. Each afternoon, mailroom staff prepare mail for delivery to the Post Office. Mail must be received in the mailroom by  3:00 PM for processing.
Same Day Service: If your mail needs a same day postmark and processing, please print and complete a Mail Handling Request Form and attach it to your mail.
Mail Preparations: The Postal Service requires mail to be addressed and prepared as shown in the example below, to make it compatible with automated mail handling equipment. The following points will make your mail qualify for postage discounts.
  • Use a number 10 business envelope rather than larger or smaller envelopes.
  • Addresses should be typewritten in all capital letters, block format.
  • Omit all punctuation except the hyphen between the zip+4 code. If you do not have the zip+4 code, you may obtain it from the US Postal Service website. WARNING: If you select this link, you will leave our website.
  • Place address within OCR (optical character read area). Keep lower 5/8 inch of envelope clear for printing of barcode.
  • Incorrect Address Example:
    Bigname Corp.
    123 W. 95th., ste. 555
    Seattle, Washington, 98108
    att: Marysue Public
    Correct Address Example:
    MARYSUE PUBLIC
    BIGNAME CORP.
    123 W 95TH ST., STE 555
    SEATTLE WA 98108-1234

Bulk Mailing: The college maintains a non-profit, bulk mailing permit for large mailings. Mail Services must approve all artwork for a mail piece prior to printing.  Please contact the Mail Services Supervisor for an appointment while you're in the planning stage for your bulk mailing as many factors need to be considered prior to printing a mail piece. Allow additional processing and delivery time for bulk mailings.

Are you planning a bulk mailing? Mail Services now has new tabbing and addressing equipment that will make your next bulk mailing a breeze.

If you are anticipating a bulk mailing in the near future, please contact Andrea Tompkins at EXT 3314 or atompkin@highline.edu. Mail Services has the capability to tab your self-mailers. We also can verify, sort and barcode the addresses from your mailing lists and print them directly on the mail piece. No more applying labels or sorting your mailing into zip code order.

What do you have to do? Contact Mail Services to make sure your mailing is designed properly prior to printing. Download your mailing list into Excel or Access format. Send it to Mail Services along with your brochure or flyer and indicate the date you want it mailed. That's it.

Wow, isn't that easy? It saves you hours of applying labels and it saves the College $$$$$ by earning postage discounts.

Packages & Express Shipments: Mail Services processes all shipments to United Parcel Service and express shipments to Federal Express and other carriers. Please complete a Mail Handling Request Form. Provide information as to the contents of your package and the value for insurance and customs purposes. Mail Services will provide packaging materials and services. Deadlines are: 12:00 PM daily for UPS, 2:45 PM daily for Federal Express and 3:00 PM daily for United Postal Service Express Mail services.
Personal Mail: As a courtesy, Mail Services will deliver your personal letter mail to the Des Moines Post Office at 3:30 PM each day. Postal regulations do not allow us to deliver personal packages. Apply sufficient postage. (Call Mail Services if you're not sure how much postage.) Rubber band your personal mail and place in outgoing mail basket.
